Adult Coloring Books Inspired By Kid Shows

Adult coloring is all about letting your inner child out into the daylight while still staying true to your age. That is why when we found these adult coloring books inspired by famous children’s shows and cartoons we knew that they you had to hear about them. The following coloring books are inspired by kids’ cartoons but are made with adults in mind and will be a joy to color.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adult Coloring Book

This adult coloring book produced by Random House and illustrated by Patrick Spaziante has 47 designs printed single sided with the back of every page featuring a quote from the TMNT shows and movies. The paper is of good quality but is not perforated meaning that if you want to remove your colorings you will need to cut them out.

The designs in this coloring book are inspired by both retro TMNT movies and shows and newer TMNT content. The designs themselves are designed to resemble comic books with some parts having thick black areas that can’t be colored. Although some people may see this as a negative I quite enjoy it since it gives the coloring book a great comic book feel which I like. Although this coloring book was designed with adults in mind it would be a perfect book to color with a younger one as a bonding activity.

Trolls: It’s Color Time! Adult Coloring Book

This adult coloring book produced by Random House and illustrated by Jan Gerardi has 96 pages featuring designs on both sides of the page inspired by the DreamWorks movie. Since the designs are printed double sided we do not recommend using markers since they will bleed through and ruin the design on the other side of the page. Most gel pens however will do fine on this good quality white paper.

The designs in this coloring book do not necessarily represent scenes from the movie but instead use the characters from the movie to form intricate patterns that are a lot of fun to color. The designs range from easy with large open areas to more complex with small details. This makes this coloring book fun for both beginners, or younger, colorists while still being entertaining for more advanced artists.

SpongeBob’s Very Grown Up Coloring Book

This adult coloring book produced by Random House and illustrated by Gregg Schigiel has 47 designs printed single sided. The back of every page features a quote from the show or one of the movies. The designs are printed on good quality white paper. Since the designs are printed single sided and on high quality paper you can use markers in this book but we still advise you to use a spare piece of paper between designs just incase the marker bleeds through.

The designs in this coloring book are a good mix of illustrations based on scenes from the show and more adult coloring book regular repetitive “wall paper” designs that tend to have a good amount of complexity to them and will be a lot of fun to color for more advanced colorists. This coloring book is a wonderful activity to use as bonding time for you and a younger colorist.
